International festival-school of contemporary art Territory

International festival-school of contemporary art Territory was founded in 2005 in Moscow. For more than thirteen years now the festival presents in Russia the best of world performing and contemporary art.

The main goals of the Territory festival has always been the unification of professionals of theatre, dance, fine arts and music and the creation of the program, which would acquaint spectators with the most relevant performing arts of different genres. Every year the festival re-answers the question "What is contemporary art?".

At all the times the Territory festival discovers new names and presents avant-garde classics. The list of participants of the festival includes the best world directors and theatre companies: Robert Wilson, Romeo Castellucci, Rimini Protokoll, Jan Fabre, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and many others. Many of them were opened for the Russian audience by the Territory festival.

For the first time a festival declares itself not only as a showcase, but also as a school of contemporary art. There were no analogues of such a festival in Russia until the appearance of Territory. Dozens of students from many Russian cities come to the Territory to take part in master classes of leading teachers, directors, actors, choreographers and artists from different countries. During all these years the students had the opportunity to meet outstanding artists such as Jan Fabre, Declan Donnellan, Thomas Ostermeier, Josef Nadj, Dmitry Krymov, Lev Dodin, Alexei German-Jr. and many others.
