Sochi. A Non-Holiday Romance – A documentary musical play

Joint project of XIII Winter International Arts Festival in Sochi and Gorky Moscow Art Theatre
February 18, 2020
Beginning at 19:00
Winter Theatre
Description

The performance by Eduard Boyakov and Sergey Glazkov with the participation of theatre and movie stars Alika Smekhova, Irina Lindt, Alisa Grebenshchikova, and Elizaveta Barykina, and the Gorky Moscow Art Theatre actors Lidiya Kuznetsova and Anna Galinova is dedicated to the women of Sochi. And not just women, but the women of a difficult vocation – that is, wives. Supervised by the famous playwrights and screenwriters Elena Isaeva and Vladimir Zabaluev, as well as the Gorky Moscow Art Theatre art director Eduard Boyakov, a group of co-authors spent a month in Sochi interviewing real women. On the basis of these interviews they wrote a documentary play, which Sochi spectators will be now introduced to.

Seven exceptional female actors will spend an hour on the stage talking on the behalf of seven Sochi women of different ages, social status, and descent. They are united by the fact that all of them are wives. Seven stories, where comedy is intertwined with tragedy, joy with sadness, reality with dreams. Seven women will teach us to cook seven different traditional (and non-traditional) meals. Unconventional set design and multimedia effects will help us follow the stories and recipes. And there will be live music, too.
