Animation studio Soyuzmultfilm and the Winter International Arts Festival in Sochi, artistic director Yuri Bashmet
Featuring the Novaya Rossiya State Symphony Orchestra
On February 24, the Soyuzmultfilm animation studio and the Winter International Arts Festival in Sochi will present at the Winter Theatre the first ever film concert in the history of the animation studio and the Festival. In the film concert, the audience will see the legendary episodes of the Mowgli cartoons (“Raksha”, “The Kidnapping”, “Akela’s Last Hunt”, “The Fight”, “Return to Mankind”), in the period from 1967 to 1971. Music from the cartoon will be played synchronously with the action happening on the screen by the Novaya Rossiya State Symphony Orchestra conducted by Denis Vlasenko.
The format of the film concert is new for the Soyuzmultfilm studio, and the Mowgli film concert is the first in the history of the animation studio. Preparing for the show, Soyuzmultfilm stopped at the ageless and timeless classics, shot by the master of the film studio Roman Davydov, based on Rudyard Kipling’s works – The Jungle Book and The Second Jungle Book.
The music composed for the cartoon by Sofya Gubaidulina (a world-famous composer, author of over one hundred symphonic works) and the music for fiction and animation films will be performed on the stage of the Winter Theatre on February 24 by the Novaya Rossiya State Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Denis Vlasenko, one of the brightest young Russian conductors.
