On the eve of the Sochi Festival closing, the gala-concert of the Vocal Department of the International Musical Academy will take place in the Organ Hall.
Throughout the festival, the young singers will be able to receive lessons from the leading opera singers of Europe.
The Vocal Department of the Sochi Festival International Musical Academy will work on February 16 – 23.
The Vocal Department is traditionally chaired by the director of the Bolshoi Theatre Young Artists Opera Program, Honorary Artist of Russia, professor of the Russian Academy of Choral Art Dmitry Vdovin.
Another member of the department is one of the leading Europe opera managers, casting director of the Vienna State Opera, production director of Opéra de Lyon, one of the leaders of the Opéra de Lyon Young Artists Program Robert Körner, the conductor and the invited singer of the Bolshoi Theatre, laureate of Plácido Domingo International competition in Los Angeles Dmitry Korchak, as well as one of the best performers of Rossini, director of Accademia Rossiniana Ernesto Palacio.
The participants of the academy will also have a chance to attend classes by the distinguished composers and opera directors: master-classes will be also conducted by the pianist, director, and artistic director of Wexford Festival Opera Rosetta Cucchi and the invited pedagogue of the Bolshoi Theatre Young Artists Opera Program, specialist in Italian vocal elocution Alexey Yakimov. A true gem of the Vocal Department is Julia Lagahuzère – the general director of the Opera for Peace project and the artistic advisor of the Queen Sonja International Music Competition in Oslo. She used to work at the San Francisco Opera, Scottish Opera, Limoges Opera, and was deputy casting director of the Paris Opera.
